Each region has their own form of Folk entertainment, own traditions, own dialect adding to the Indian diversity. There is a celebration for every religious occasion, every change of season and every harvest, all invariably a reflection of the genius of their arts and crafts and their severe refinement. The important regional festivals celebrated in Rajasthan that describe more about its festival related legacy are:

Desert Festival, Jaisalmer
This festival is celebrated in the heart of desert, the golden city of Jaisalmer and most popular in Rajasthan. During the festival, many types of shows are organized on the sands; that is so lively that that attracts even the much traveled visitors.

Mewar Festival, Udaipur
This festival is celebrated to welcome the beginning of spring season. During this festival, there is song, dance, processions, devotional music and fireworks organized where almost everybody involved.

Gangaur, Jaipur
This festival is devoted to goddess Parvati, the companion of Lord Shiva. In this festival, young girls dress up and decorate the idols of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva and pray for grooms of their choice and married women pray for the well-being of their husbands.

Elephant Festival, Jaipur
Along with Holi, this festival is celebrated. On this huge event, people in a large gathering come to watch several elephant sports. A show is organized with the elephants turning out in their best fine clothes.

URS Ajmer Sharif, Ajmer
In the memory of the revered Sufi saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti this festival is celebrated. It is an occasion for thousands of believers to assemble at the shrine and offer their prayers.

Teej, Jaipur
The festival to mark advent of monsoon season. Processions, women dressed in bright colours and a lot of merriment prevail during Teej.

Marwar Festival, Jodhpur
A festival devoted mainly to the music and dance of the Marwar region. This is a festival allows the visitor to understand and enjoy the folk traditions of this part of the state.
