Pushkar is one of the most sacred and popular pilgrimage places in India. Many Hindu devotees visit to Pushkar every year. The town is reserved for its century’s legendary lake named Pushkar Lake or Pushkar Sarovar. The name of the town has been derived from this lake. The lake is believed to be sacred and holy and is said that you can get rid- off from all sins by taking dip into this lake. According to Hindu Mythology, Pushkar it was formed by the tears of Lord Shiva after the death of his wife, Sati. Pushkar is also known as ‘Tirth Raj’ that means the king of pilgrimage. During the month of November of every year the place is renowned for its Pushkar Camel Fair where lakhs of devotees gather here to take dip into the holy water of Pushkar.

Pushkar Lake

Pushkar Lake is one of the ancient and pilgrimage lake in India that was depicted in the Epics of Hindu – The Mahabharata and The Ramayana. It is believed that after taking dip into the water all sins are forgiven. There are some medicinal properties that cure some skin diseases. You can also attend both morning and evening aarti that took place in the ghats f the Holy Lake.

Brahma Temple

Brahma Temple is another one of the most attractive tourist destination in Pushkar. This temple is dedicated to Lord Brahma (Hindu God). This temple is believed to be more than 2000 years old and it relates to some stories of Mahabharata and Ramayans of Hindu Epics.

Pushkar Camel Fair/Festival

Pushkar Camel Fair is one of the most attractive attractions during the festive time in Pushkar. It is one of the world's largest camel fairs where you can see random foreign tourists visiting visiting this place between the months of November and December. One can experience camel rides, horse rides and other activities during this festival.

How to get Pushkar

    Airport - There is no Airport in Pushkar. Nearest airport is Jaipur Airport that is 170kms away from Pushkar and is well connected with other major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata etc.

    Train - The Mukandgarh Railway Station is the nearest station to reach Pushkar that is approx. 14 kilometres away from Mandawa. It is well connected with all major cities of Rajasthan.

    Road - Pushkar city is well connected with other major cities. The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation runs deluxe and semi-deluxe buses connecting to nearby cities like Delhi, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer etc. You can also avail buses and private cabs to reach Pushkar.
